Loving Thy Neighbor
Who is our neighbor? Is it the person next door? Is it the person we sit next to in church or other functions? The answer is both. We as Christians are to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. The church has seemed to have gotten loss in this aspect. They seem to want to judge instead of love them. A valid point our pastor brought up in his message this week, is that we drive by a bar and see cars and we think a bunch of drunks, they drive by the church and think a bunch of hypocrites. Oh! How true that is. That is what is wrong with today’s church, we want to judge instead of reaching out in love for those people that are lost.
I want us to look at the scripture below which is I Corinthians 13: 1- 3: We can see that without love we have nothing. We as Christians are to have a servants heart. If we are saved we want to serve people and love them along with nurturing them, On a weekly basis, we should not go to church and just sit there for the sermon and then leave come back the next week and do the same thing. We are to give all that we have to Christ which means everything, not expecting anything in return.
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing
One last thought, we are just a bunch of screwed up people and God loves us anyway. So, we need to do the same for our neighbors. I hope this will inspire you somehow.
